Gamma Zeta Honors Alumnae

Founders Day is not only a time to celebrate our Founders but it is also a time to honor those Delta Gamma alumnae who have shaped the history of our local chapter. Additionally, Founders Day is set aside as a day for reunions with friends and classmates, a celebration of membership anniversaries, a time for renewal of friendships and re dedication to the Fraternity and its ideals. The Gamma Zeta Chapter honored two deserving women at this year’s beautiful Founders Day celebration held at the Capitol Hilton in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Gamma Zeta chapter honored Elizabeth Bryant Phillips, lovingly known by chapter members as the “Anchor lady” with a Delta Gamma Scholarship in her honor to be given to a Gamma Zeta chapter member for the 2013-2014 school year. This gift was made possible through a donation made by her dear friends and regular guests at the DG Homecoming Brunch, Charlotte and Baron Craft of Houston, Texas and a matching donation from the Gamma Zeta chapter. Mrs. Beth’s commitment to Delta Gamma is always apparent not only through the anchors she wears but through her exuding sisterhood and love for our Fraternity.

Additionally, Gamma Zeta honored the life of Jo Billisoly with a Delta Gamma Scholarship that will also help benefit the education of a Gamma Zeta chapter member. Mrs. Billisoly was a 50-year member of Delta Gamma , a past Advisory Team Chairman, and recipient of the Cable Award. In 2012, she was named an honoree for the LSU Greek Excellence Award.

What a perfect way to help live out Article II of the Delta Gamma Constitution to “promote their educational and cultural interests” by honoring two deserving and notable Delta Gamma alumnae.

  3. Beth and I pledged together in the fall of 1963. We were inexplicably drawn to each other and have remained close friends since that time. Beth has been a true sister and exemplifies the meaning of "sisterhood." What better person to honor than Beth Bryant Phillips??? She has demonstrated so much devotion and energy to the causes of Delta Gamma; and, she has represented us well in the community. Because of Beth, I have done many things I never thought I would do--she has been a great leader and a tireless worker for Delta Gamma. I salute my sister and send love and thanks--ITB Ginger Leckie Seale
